Water Colour Tutorial - Part 1 by Megan-Uosiu Water Colour Tutorial - Part 1 by Megan-Uosiu
PART 2

Thank you, :iconnomikyo-chan: for doing those photos for me!! <333 :hug: :hug:

+++

Okay, it's dooone...! *0*? No, it's not. _^_ It's only half of what I wanted to say. T_T I didn't even get to the basic info and tips!! D: Please wait a little while longer for them...! T_T

Anyway... I think I won't finish it so soon, so I just wanted to show you what I've got. <3;; I hope this part alone will be usefull too...
If you want to start painting right away - just one more tip from me: Start with the pencil sketch, then do colours, and leave the lineart for the end! >w< Of course you don't have to, but it's much easier this way and it looks better at the end. <3

+++

So, see you next time, I will try to finish it as soon as possible!! >w< (I spent more than 11 hours on doing this part... @_@' )

Ah, sorry. It's called "Karmański", but I think it's only sold in my country... and anyway, it went out of production a few years ago, so now you can only get a similar brand from Russia. I don't know the brand's name though - we call them russian watercolours. xD' It's based on honey and gum arabic, if I'm not mistaken...

I started taking a watercolor class, but it was way too slow and i wasn't learning anything new D:
the most i learned was the effect from salt but i could easily have learned that from DA as well D:

I usually use white and some strong orange colour. Then I add English Rose (or whatever the name in English O.o;; ) to make the shades.

I searched for Watercolor tutorials on DA and find sooo much, but this was the first which really helped a lot! Thank you! You show us the method how to draw and not just an artwork step by step. (Which is helpful for intermediates, but not for beginners like me. ^^)

Fave! ^^ That will help me later. :3

This is a great tutorial!
But i'm curious, i have the water color paint that comes in a tube--Is the kind you're using better?
sorry, i don't know what to call them TT_TT

:iconmegan-uosiu:
Megan-Uosiu Featured By Owner Mar 21, 2010
It's just different. Water colours in cubes are good because you can choose the amount of water you want to apply. In tubes you have some amount already implied. So if the paint is thick - it doesn't matter, but if it's watery, then you can't get enough pigment sometimes... .3. But I think your water colours mush be properly thick and all. ^^ So don't worry about it and just paint~! <33 :hug: Good luck~! ^3^

Reply
:iconmegan-uosiu:
Megan-Uosiu Featured By Owner Oct 4, 2009

:iconmegan-uosiu:
Megan-Uosiu Featured By Owner Sep 28, 2009
Nie są złe, dlaczego złe? ^^'' Wszystkim da się pewnie jakoś malować. :3

Ahh, I only tried one type ("Karmanski" watercolours), but I don't think they are available outside my country... D: Anyway it would be best if you asked for water colours made with addition of honey (sorry, I'm not sure if it's the same in English. xD' ) and arabic gum.
Usually water colours are made only with the arabic gum as an adhesive, and they are more expensive than the ones that I've got (I think...).
Other than Polish water colours I can only recommend you Russian ones, but I really haven't tried them myself. ^^;
I'm very sorry for not being able to answer your question properly, but I've never been to artistic shop abroad, and so I have no idea how does it look like. ^^' Perhaps try to ask the shop keeper what do they recommend for dry technique?... ^^''

Yeah, I'll try asking a shop keeper ^^ Thank you so much! :heart:
