It is highly advised to NOT read this text or look at the pictures if you have not completed the eighth book "Artemis Fowl: The Last Guardian" by Eoin Colfer.

SPOILER WARNING!

So, yay, I finally finished the first part of the sketches. : D I'm sorry about the last two pages, they were for practice because I got out of touch with drawing Artemis lately, but I ended up submitting them too. OTL' So please focus on the first three, or even better - just on the second and the third one. xD; Thank you! <3

About the book. 8D
I liked it. It was very nice, very dramatic, totally epic and a bit sad (no, actually, it was very sad!).

What I didn't like was the use of science theories this time. Or rather probably the lack of it? I'm talking about the part where older Koboi was about to explode due to the killing of her younger version. This was too much. Whatever magic or not, it just doesn't seem right. Of course since time travel wasn't yet achieved by our civilizaton, it's hard to argue, but I'm a big fan of the theory of trousers of time (is that the name?).

In such a case after the death of the younger Koboi nothing would have happened, because there is actually a very large number of alternative universes and it just so happened that she came from one and died in another. Thus the older Koboi wouldn't have been the same person, but the older version of some other Koboi, who lived in the universe where the book's action takes place in.

Another thing is... OMG, my favourite character died!!! WHY!?

This part was super sad and I really cried a lot on it. But of course you would say - wait a minute, did you read till the last page? Well, yes - but realistically speaking that persom would be someone else with the soul of the previous Artemis. He would never regain his memories, and although his body and mind could be the same, it would be formed in a different manner. If that is so, then he would be a completely different person with potentially different character (although Artemis' comment at one point suggests that he would probably still try to gather money, since it's something he has inherited from his father), different background and different way of living.

Unless.

Well, here's just a little theory of mine. See how in Mr. Colfer's books magic is actually the representation of energy? Well then. Let's say the soul (as described in the book) also consists of magic AKA energy. We know that Artemis (using his brain power - haha, another ridiculus moment, sorry) maintained his soul in the place of his death. Then if he really could do anything about it, I suppose he could make that energy into matter, as Einstein has proven (E=mc2, you know this, right?). The matter in particular could be some brain cells (or even some energy to change his new actual brain cells) which contained his memories. And ta-da! Our favourite criminal mastermind is back and kicking!

Well, I suppose it's a farfetched, stupid, useless theory. Magic is magic - maybe it just all happened magically (right...).

Anyway - this was always my favourite part of the Artemis Fowl series - the use of science in an unconventional way. So this time I was a bit dissapointed on this part, but everything else was terrific. <3

Well, if Opal didn't blow up - the action surely wouldn't get so interesting and hard to deal with, so I'm glad it turned out like this.

... I think.

Oh so amazing! I was scrolling through your drawings and I saw AF: LG. I, no joke, balled up my fists, tapped them together and smiled like a crazed fool in anticipation of seeing another one of your Artemis Fowl drawings. I was not disappointed. I love all your drawings but the Artemis Fowl ones have got to be my favorites. Keep up the good work!

Beckett is precious and Foaly is awesome and everything is perfect and beautiful.
...
But I do want to see Mayne in unicorn cosplay!
I was almost afraid Colfer would do a Supernaturalist, and he sort of did. Ah well. It feels like the end of an era.

My theory is a little less complicated. I think that he'll get his memories back eventually, because the Berserkers kept their memories, even when going into completely different hosts. I think he just doesn't remember at first maybe because of the shock of being brought back to life, or he's just human and he's slow - either way, I can't see why he wouldn't remember at some point since it was established that at least a bit of memory is anchored to the soul! (My heart couldn't take it otherwise, so the is my head-canon/coping logic). They should just have No1 fix everything like he always does.
Anyway beautiful sketches! I love your style and your other artwork, it's gorgeous. I can't wait until I get my art tablet back up and running, the world needs more Artemis Fowl artwork, and yours is just lovely.

I think that Artemis is going to regain his memories when Holly has told him about their adventures.

And about Opal killing her younger self and exploding. Firstly, I was very disappointed that they didn't mention the theory where young Opal couldn't die because then she could never go back to her own time and become the present Opal. And secondly is that what happened actually happened. The "Temporal Paradox", which I like to call "Headache Paradox" because thinking about it and how it didn't make sense and actually gave me a headache. I eventually got rid of it though, when I settled with the fact that the worst possible outcome would be the world exploding, and thus the characters were lucky about this.

Oh, and I absolutely love your sketches!! :icondragonwant:

I'm pretty sure he keeps his memories even as a soul. All the fairies who were resurrected by Opal remembered everything from when they were alive, and they were all just souls sealed away.

This may just be me, but I think he does regain his memories, at least sporadically. His first line when he comes back is "Stand back. You don't know what you're dealing with." Which is an almost exact replica of what Holly said in the first book when she first encountered Artemis, and he and Butler kidnapped her (her quote just included the word 'human'). It's still there, he just has initial shock and disorientation. Maybe?
